"at his finest in music of his compatriots"

Lawrence A. Johnson rezensiert im Kansas City Star vom 4. September die Aufnahme von Brahms' Symphonie No. 1 und Beethovens Ouvertüre zu Egmont, die Christian Thielemann mit den Münchner Philharmonikern eingespielt hat, und bewertet sie mit vier Sternen: "Christian Thielemann is that rarest of conductors, a musician with the ability to make even the most familiar works appear newly minted and imbued with fresh drama and visceral impact. The German conductor is at his finest in music of his compatriots, as eloquently demonstrated with these fiery and commanding live performances of Beethoven and Brahms".
